Holidays and comming events

Annual community events

The bulgarian community gathers together to celebrate the following five major events:

  • 3-rd of March: The most major National Holiday in Bulgaria, celebrating the freedom from Turkish occupation with a luncheon in the Members Room.
  • 24-th of May: The major cultural National Bulgarian Holiday, selebrating the Cyrillic Alphabet used in Bulgaria, celebrated with a luncheon in the Main Hall.
  • 14-th of October: The day of St Petka, the patron of the Bulgarian Church in Adelaide, also celebrated with a luncheon in the Main Hall.
  • 24-th of December: Christmas Eve, when Father Christmas meets the Bulgarian Community in the Main Hall.
  • 31-th of December: New Years Eve, a party wellcomming the new year at the Members Room.
Christmas Eve is selebrated exactly on the day, while the other 4 holidays are usually selebrated on the nearest Sunday. Please check the Message Board for announcements.

These functions have our Bulgarian Folk Dancers entertaining the guests.
